Reiki and Stress


Reiki, which is pronounced as 'Ray Key' is a well-known natural energy healing process, which employs the use of 'laying on' of hands in order to enhance and improve the overall health of a person and help him balance the life force energy. Reiki healing is a simple, non-intrusive healing procedure. It is an excellent way to reduce stress, bring in more relaxation and get the mind, body in sync with the spirit.


Mikao Usui the founder of Reiki, laid down five guiding principles or precepts that are a set of ideals to work towards, recommendations about thought and behaviour that you should follow as much as you can in your daily life – put them into practice and they are guaranteed to reduce your stress levels!


“Just for today:


Do not anger
Do not worry
Be humble
Be honest in your work
Be compassionate to yourself and others.”

 

Even if you are not successful in putting these precepts into practice every day, after a course of treatments you should find that Reiki helps you to feel more ‘laid back’ - calm, content and serene - and you should find that you feel better able to deal with stressful situations or stressful people, and that you feel more positive and better able to cope. If energy levels are low then they can be boosted; if spirits are low then they can be lifted. This ‘Reiki effect’ is noticed by most people who receive a course of Reiki treatments.
