Hypnotherapy weight-loss programme

A lot of people think that they lack the willpower to lose weight, but what they are actually doing is talking themselves out of finding the determination to do just that.  Hypnotherapy can help you change your habits and behaviours, such as eating habits, and encourage you to take up an appropriate exercise routine.  In terms of weight there is no magic wand, it’s all a matter of calories in and energy expended.  If you consume more energy than you use you’ll put on weight.  It sounds simple but we know it's a difficult nut to crack - many people desperately want to lose weight but struggle with the willpower to achieve their goal, and that's where hypnotherapy can help - if you’ve really decided that you want to lose weight and are ready to make lifestyle changes hypnotherapy will help to fire up that determination in your mind.

Hypnotherapy can help in many other areas of your life too, Pam Morgan, hypnotherapist at the Earlsdon Practice teaches self hypnosis in most client’s first session, which they can use in any area of their life where they want to achieve their goals and desires.  She often finds that as she treats one patient for one issue, another one pops up and is also helped.

temptation - cake or apple"A lot of patients come to me saying they are nervous; there is a misconception of a loss of control." says Pam,   "Well I tell patients that it is exactly the opposite it is gives you more control over the way you think, the way you feel and the way you behave.  Hypnosis is a very relaxing and enjoyable therapy; I sometimes explain it like a massage for the mind.  Certainly once patients have experienced hypnosis, they usually look  forward to their next session’s indulgence and report feeling overall better about themselves.

I don’t think I can be hypnotised, is a statement I hear regularly.  Well if indeed you don’t want to experience trance state then as I’ve said early, you’re in control and you won’t.  However we are all in trance state at least twice a day, once as we wake up, it’s that wonderful feeling of hanging between sleep and full conscious awareness knowing we’re coming awake, and wanting to stay there for a little bit longer.   (For those of you with insomnia, hypnotherapy is a great tool.)  We are also in a trance state as we drift off down into sleep.  It is in the trance state - in our subconscious mind - where all that self talk goes on: “go on have that chocolate cake”,   “one more packet of crisps won’t hurt,  it's like a sponge for suggestions of new behaviour and that’s where I do my work.  The suggestions that I make are appropriate to the case history that we will have discussed and will help your inner talk to make more helpful suggestions to you and will boost your determination to lose weight for good.

Aversion therapy is another tool that we use, when necessary, where we link the thought of something that you really find disgusting with something that you overindulge in, the effect is that for a period of up to three months you will find this ‘problematic’ indulgence less desirable.  During that time you should have got out of the habit of the overindulgence and will be well on the journey of self improvement.

Parts therapy is also used, we all talk about that ‘part’ of us that wants to do this, that or the other, but then there is another ‘part’ that sabotages that desire.  In hypnotherapy we use Parts Therapy to get agreement that this ‘part’ will change its behaviour to something more useful.  A very powerful therapy indeed."

Pam normally sees weight-related patients for three sessions, thereafter patients may choose to use their newly learnt self hypnosis skills or indeed listen again to the free recording of each treatment that she provides.
