What are Hopi Ear Candles?
Thermal Auricular Therapy (also known as Hopi Ear Candles) is a pleasant non-invasive treatment of the ears.
It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on 
a spiritual basis. Then it reached the modern world via the native North American Indians. (Hopi means peaceful people). Ear candles were used traditionally by shamen healers. Ancient wall paints show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candle s are still hand made today using the finest beeswax, honey extract and traditional herbs such as sage, St John’s wort, camomile and pure essential oils.
What to Expect during treatment
You will be given a full consultation and will be asked to lie on a couch on your side. The Hopi candle will be gently placed inside the ear canal. The candle is lit and the suction that is formed draws the impurities from within the ear. The candle will be held firmly in place and allowed to burn to a line marking on the candle.
You will experience a pleasant crackling sound and a warm comfortable feeling. Once the candle has burned it is carefully removed. Then it is repeated on the other ear. The treatment is finished off with acupressure points on the face and ears.
